“Fish X-change” by Phuket PSU among top 5 innovation at Thailand Tech Show 2017

       NSTDA organized Thai Tech Expo 2017 under the name, Thailand Tech Show 2017 “Innofusion: empowering business with science and innovation,” which took place from September 20th-24th of 2017 at Hall 105-106, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Convention (BITEC), Bang Na, BKK. “Fish X-change,” a research by Associate Professor Dr. Sakshin Bunthawin, Faculty of Technology and Environment, PSU, Phuket Campus, was among the top five outstanding NSTDA research presented to investors on September 22nd of 2017.

       Thailand Tech Show 2017 is an exhibition run by NSTDA and affiliated network around the country. Over 200 research projects were presented in a technology market format to support tech business and tech startup. The Show also connected new model of investment or appropriate investment source to fund new innovations and fast productivity through market expansion.

       “Fish X-change” is a clean technology with equipment that is easy to use and safe, can reduce sex change of Tilapia from 21-28 days per original method to 5-15 min/kit, which equates to reduction of chemical usage by 3,600 times hence less pollution. Hormone solution can also be reused, appropriate for tilapia-related business group and the process of changing sex of aquatic animals’ eggs for commercial purposes.
