Asst. Prof. Dr. Jumphon Chuenjitsiri, Vice President for Legal and Academic Services, PSU stated that PSU was aware of COVID-19 outbreak. Therefore, the research team had coordinated with the professors of Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering to solve this problem in an easy way with small investment.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Chalongrat Daengngam, Department of Physics, and Dr. Chinnapong Angsuchotmetee, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, PSU created infrared scanners to screen visitors at the entrances.
On January 29th, 2020, at Faculty of Medicine Administrative Building, PSU, Associate Professor Dr. Anchana Prathep, Dean of Faculty of Science, and Associate Professor Dr. Puttisak Puttawibul, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, signed a collaboration agreement with Miss Raneewan Ramsiri, Director of SE Asia Countries Group 2 of Medtronic (Thailand) Limited to build the PSU Cadaveric Surgical Training Center.
Agro-Industry students won the Certificate of Recognition at the WorldStar Student Awards 2019, which was organized by the Institute of Packaging South Africa. The announcement came in on January 10th of 2020, marking 4th consecutive years of victory including national and Asian region level.
NRCT supports and honors Thai researchers as well as advancement of science and social scientific research that benefits the public. NRCT has approved 148 awards for the year 2020, including outstanding researcher awards, research awards, thesis awards, and invention awards.
Associate Professor Sarunyou Chusri, M.D., Vice Dean of Songklanagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, declared that the hospital is ready to handle the novel Coronavirus, crediting the experience with the previous outbreak of SARS virus, which is in the same family as MERS-CoV. The hospital will utilize the same team of personnel and system from monitoring, patient examination, and treatment. PSU designates a unit that identifies high-risk patients, sending those who have travelled from Wuhan with severe respiratory symptoms to further screening at the central unit. Soon, Songklanagarind hospital would have a capacity to screen and examine on its own.
RDO congratulates Associate Professor Dr. Pharkpoom Panichayupakaranant and team from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, including Associate Professor Nattha Kaewnopparat, Mr. Likit Lateh, a PhD candidate, Mr. Surapong Jutinanun. Their research titled, “Water-soluble curcuminoid effervescent granules,” was awarded Gold Medal by SIIF and Special Award by Taiwan Invention Association at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2019, Seoul, Republic of Korea, which took place from November 27-30 of 2019.
